CVFiber In Search Of Primary & Alternate Delegates To Fill Vacancies
As we embark on a New Year at CVFiber, we would not be where we are today without the unwavering support and commitment from our Governing Board. As a non-profit entity, CVFiber includes a Governing Board which consists of one primary delegate and one or more alternate delegates from each member town. Primary and alternate delegates from our 20 member towns serve as strategic advisors to the organization. They are unpaid volunteers who contribute their time and skillsets to the organization.
We are in a transition period with recent delegate and/or alternate delegate vacancies to be filled in Q1 2024. We are seeking interested individuals for the following vacancies:
- Barre City: Alternate Delegate (1)
- Barre Town: Primary Delegate (1) and Alternate Delegate (1)
- Montpelier: Primary Delegate (1)
- Northfield: Primary Delegate (1) and Alternate Delegate (1)
- Roxbury: Alternate Delegate (1)
- Washington: Primary Delegate (1) and Alternate Delegate (1)
- Williamstown: Alternate Delegate (1)
Key responsibilities and attributes include:
Delegate Responsibilities:
- Required attendance for monthly Governing Board meetings. Delegates are voting members. Alternates are voting members only if the primary delegate is not present. Additional Board meetings may be scheduled that are outside of the standard monthly meeting. Delegate meeting attendance was adopted in the Delegate Participation Rule, August 2023.
- Required completion of annual HR training. Attend virtually or watch recorded session.
- Report back to the town that you represent.
- Comply with all CVFiber policies and procedures including the Delegate Participation Rule.
Delegate Attributes:
- Eager to stay involved in community engagement;
- Passion for CVFiber’s mission;
- General interest for broadband communications;
- Willing, able, and knowledgeable to speak or post publicly (guidance from CVFiber’s Community Relations Manager provided);
- Exemplifies community involvement, reliability, and trust with a strong interest to promote universal broadband access;
- Good standing character and reputation within their community and/or professional areas of expertise;
- Demonstrated record of community knowledge and boots-on-the-ground town connections;
- Agility to stay on top of any changes that may occur within the CVFiber organization;
- Practices accountability, consistency, and clarity in communications;
- Unbiased approach to listening from diverse set of points of view.
About CVFiber: As a community-owned and operated Internet service provider, CVFiber is serving its 20 Central Vermont towns with a unified goal to provide fast, reliable, world-class Internet to every Vermonter within its member towns. In partnership with Waitsfield & Champlain Valley Telecom, which operates the network and interacts with its customers, CVFiber is equipped to meet the growing needs of Vermonters as it expands into new district zones. Twenty towns are a part of the CVFiber district: Barre City, Barre Town, Berlin, Cabot, Calais, Duxbury, East Montpelier, Middlesex, Marshfield, Montpelier, Moretown, Northfield, Orange, Plainfield, Roxbury, Washington, Waterbury, Williamstown, Woodbury, and Worcester.
In 2023, CVFiber officially launched its services in parts of Calais with plans to expand construction and installations in 2024 to additional parts of Calais, East Montpelier, Worcester, and Middlesex. CVFiber is currently building a 1,300-mile network throughout the district.
